Schedules be damned! We're covering our favorite comedy, Community, every week until NBC puts it back on the air.
Back when Community was on the air (*sniff*), 8:29pm on Thursday night didn't mean the show was over. The NBC comedy always saved some of its best material for its end tags, the 45 seconds or so at the end of an episode while the credits run.
Those final moments have seen Troy and Abed faking a morning show, puppies parading around in wagons, and a cartoon version of Dean Pelton eating Jeff Winger. These scenes are proof that the writers behind Community take every second of the very unserious show very seriously.
Though this type of scene isn't unique to Community, the show's end tags soon became a focal point of the program for fans. It all started innocently in Episode 2, when Troy and Abed sat on a coach, dropped a beat-box beat, and spit some gibberish Spanish rhymes about a library and goats. Last week, many of you cited that moment as the one that made you fall in love with Community, so below I've embedded a handful of my favorite Community end tags. I'm just gonna come right out and say that I don't think Betty White is funny. At all! I don't know why they play so much off the whole "funny undignified old lady" gimmick. Do people actually laugh at that? She was on that movie "The Proposal" as well and, as always, portrayed the cooky grandma. Not funny. The weird Indian dance scene in the woods. Not funny. Therefore, Betty White rapping? NOT FUNNY. I don't know how that made the list, but I'm just glad she was only in one episode!
That said, my favorite end tag was the cartoon wall one! LOL There are a couple others that I really liked but they escape me at the moment.
Christmas Troy is definitely one of my favourites. It stays stuck in my head for days when I hear it. But then The Library Rap is definitely up there - it's what made my boyfriend and I give the show a chance. But Merry Changmas has to be one of the best goodbyes-for-now ever done in the history of goodbyes-for-now. (Maybe au revoir would be easier to write?)
90% of the time my stupid dvr cuts them off, at least the last few lines. I'm sure they are funny and all I just havent seen ALL of most of em.
That's probably the best spent 30 minutes in the history of TV! Hard To Be Jewish had me laughing out so loud that I woke up my roommate and his girlfriend. Bring back Community! Otherwise this is my message to NBC: Screw you guys, I'm going to watch HBO...

It is not an end tag, but I liked Jeff chasing through the streets to go to Dr. Rich for lessons in picking up women, the kettle corn episode.

Leonard's Pizza review wasn't what made me love Community, it showed up too late in the game for that - but it is just so deeply, wonderfully funny.
Easily Space Ships. Though going through these links now, they're all amazing. And that's why Community is streets ahead.
The Ernie and Bert end tag always makes me laugh the hardest - especially when Troy remembers that he's missing his cousin Dimitri's funeral!

Hey, didnt they have this in an episode already? The flashback ep towards the end of season 2, either right before or right after the Paintball dubble I think, the same ep dean eats Jeff and kills the studygroup in the endtag. *-)
Those were mainly new ones for the purpose of the 'flashback', so I mean those coupled with all of the 'actual' ones.
This is a great idea. If only I had an intern to do all the legwork for me!

I can only remember like one or two end tags that didn't have me peeing myself laughing I loved the tunnel, the darkest timeline and fire alarm among many others! But the rap is a classic!
That one in episode two with Troy and Abed rapping in Spanish does hold a special place in my heart. It gave a glimpse of what the relationship between Troy and Abed was going to be, it set the tone for the whole series, and it was a major reason why I continued watching the show.
Out of the rest I would pick:
"You Penised the Test". Because infantile humour, like penis jokes, appeal to me. And Britta being conufsed is funny.
"Horsebot 3000". Because I like the way Britta and Jeff looked like sitting on the sofa.
"Hard to be Jewish". I have no idea why I like this one.
"Anthropology Rap ft. Betty White". Who can resist Betty White?
"Kickpuncher vs. Punchkicker". Just because of Troy's final line.
The best has to be Christmas Troy. To see Jeff go from confusion and judgement to having child like fun. Which is some thing Jeff needs more of in his life. He takes himself way to serious. It is a nice little bit of character growth.
Thanks Tim, each week you make me realize again that my love for Community is turning more into an obsession...of course I watched them all :)
Choosing the best one is almost impossible though. But lately I've noticed I started using "Donda esta la biblioteca" as a random sentence that can mean literally anything. "Troy and Abed in the Morning" and "Christmas Troy" are 'songs' that have been stuck in my head for a long time as well.
But, I consider "Donda esta la biblioteca" and "Troy and Abed in the Morning" as 'Hors Category' so I will note vote for these. (And I still wish to believe that is also the case with all comedy awards in the world, they just don't nominate Community because then there would be no contest!)
